Cash objects to Council listing of Cheadle, Forsbrook, Cresswell and Blythe Bridge as potential sites for permanent traveller camps

Sir Bill Cash has objected on behalf of his constituents in Cheadle, Forsbrook, Cresswell and Blythe Bridge to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council’s listing of potential sites for permanent traveller camps at Mobberley Works, Cheadle; the fenced-off land just off the Forsbrook to Cheadle road near Forsbrook; a farm building/land on Uttoxeter Road, Blythe Bridge; land at Uttoxeter Road, Blythe Bridge, north of the bypass; and the former Cresswell Railway Station.

Cash said –

“Permanent traveller camps at these sites would be inappropriate and I am totally in support of my constituents as none of those sites should be an option for the Council’s consideration to help meet demand for pitches.

“The proposals will negatively impact upon property prices and the condition of the site after it has been vacated.

“I have written to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and the Government minister urging them to intervene and thereby remove the listing of Cheadle, Forsbrook, Cresswell and Blythe Bridge as potential sites for a permanent traveller camp.”
