It is essential that we finally conclude our relationship with the European Union on which everything else turns, including immigration, jobs and growth, defence, paying for public services and of course governing ourselves through our own democracy. To do this, we must have a proper referendum. The EU is a failing and undemocratic institution. David Cameron has stated there must be an In or Out Referendum.
It is Conservative eurosceptic MPs, with the British people behind them, who have persistently fought against the existing European Treaties since the Maastricht Treaty, in Parliament where it matters – not UKIP.
It is Conservative eurosceptic MPs who voted against Lisbon.
It is Conservative eurosceptic MPs who successfully rebelled to get an EU referendum on the present agenda and who are now pressuring the Government to have the referendum before the General Election.
It is Conservative eurosceptic MPs who have forced the cut in the EU budget and David Cameron’s recent veto.
There will be no referendum unless there is an Act of Parliament voted by a majority of the MPs in Parliament. Voting for UKIP, who do not have one MP – never mind the majority required – means that UKIP can only complain. And similarly, they can do nothing on HS2!
UKIP can achieve nothing except to reduce the number of Conservative eurosceptic MPs. They would not of course win any seats but merely by getting enough votes in marginal seats would ensure that the pro-EU/anti-referendum Labour and LibDem candidates stop Conservative MPs from winning.
So what it boils down to is that UKIP would stop any hope of an EU Referendum which they claim they want. This is called cutting off your nose to spite your face – because Labour and the Lib Dems would have the majority needed in Parliament to block any EU Referendum Act. Worse still, they would therefore guarantee that we do not leave the European treaties and you would not have the referendum you and the British people demand.
Voting for UKIP is therefore disastrous for you. It is not just a wasted vote, it is a hopeless vote. They would prevent Britain from having a referendum. A vote for UKIP would guarantee that Britain will never leave the EU.
Don't let UKIP fool you.
