Gareth Jones has been a Borough Councillor since 2011 representing the Barlaston Ward. He has lived in Tittensor Road since 1974. He is a widower. He has three children and nine grandchildren.
He was the Mayor of Stafford Borough for a two year period up till April 2021. During this time he had to cope with the challenges of lockdowns
He has successfully fought three Council elections for the Conservative Party. He has served on the Barlaston Parish Council since 2008 and was its Chairman for ten years up to May 2021. He knows the Ward and its issues extremely well.
He is currently the Chairman of the Borough Council Planning Committee. Before becoming Mayor he chaired the Borough's Resources Scrutiny Committee.
He is a member of St John the Baptist Parish Church in Barlaston, he is President of the Barlaston Bowling Club and Chairman of the Barlaston Village Hall Committee. He is also a member of Stone Rural Parish Council.
He is also Vice Chairman of the Governors of the Newcastle and Stafford College Group.
He has always been anxious to serve the whole community and to make himself available for help and advice.
In the early part of his career he worked in senior management in Midlands manufacturing industry but latterly he held directorial positions in the NHS in North East England and Merseyside.
