Lynne Bakker-Collier - St Michaels & Stonefield Ward

I have loved living in Stone for the last 50 years; I have served you by running two local businesses, Midfield Nursery & Florist for 26 yrs and Midfield Canine Education Academy for 44 years. For the last 8 years I have been proud to represent you as a Stafford Borough Councillor. I was Deputy Mayor of Stafford Borough in 2015 and this year I have been nominated as Deputy Mayor Elect of Stafford Borough.

It has been a pleasure to have been involved in restoring our High Street and Town with larger retailers like B&M, Marks and Spencer, Spec Savers, other smaller independent shops and of course the return of our Post Office.

We should all be very excited to welcome the new guide hut and our soon to be opened leisure centre. The Conservative administration which runs Stafford Borough Council has spent approximately £10 million in Stone ensuring that the people of Stone have state of the art recreation, leisure and swimming facilities. I am excited about this because it will help keep Stone residents of all ages, healthy and fit without having to travel from our wonderful town.

I have enjoyed working for all ages within the community from babes to grandparents; I am involved in children’s holiday clubs and have also previously supported Age Concern Stone & District. I am involved in activities in Oulton Abbey Care Home and hope to operate a 'community transport service' to help residents without cars to get to important appointments.

My other charity work includes Katherine House Lymphedema Clinic, Stafford Hospital League of Friends and nationally with Guide Dogs for the Blind, for which I am Honorary President. I am a Trustee of Barlaston Downs Banks and Stone Common Plot, I care deeply for conservation issues and will work tirelessly to preserve the green spaces in Stone.

I am capable of seeing projects through and with my passion for life I intend to continue my hard work with honesty, high moral values and determination to help you as individuals and the Town as a whole.
